Late Monday, Federal Judge Orlando Garcia said there’s not enough support for Attorney General Greg Abbott’s proposed agreement with some of the minority groups involved in the redistricting lawsuit. He asked the groups to continue discussing the maps.

Tuition Rule Change for Undocumented Immigrants   

Texas public colleges, universities, and community colleges will now be required to pressure undocumented immigrants receiving in-state tuition. Colleges will have to tell students every year to contact federal authorities about their legal status. That’s part of a rule change the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board passed unanimously at a board meeting this morning.

Governor Rick Perry Drops out of GOP race

Texas Governor Rick Perry is dropping out of the race for the GOP presidential nomination, sources are telling the New York Times and CNN.

Perry has a news conference scheduled for 10 o’clock this morning in South Carolina, where he’s expected to make a formal announcement.

The Associated Press reports he will endorse former House Speaker Newt Gingrich.
