Chamber of Commerce Aims to Lure Tech Talent to Austin

Today the Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce announced the launch of a new website designed to help fill Austin’s so-called “technology gap.”

The chamber says that Austin tech companies are having trouble finding qualified local candidates for mid-to-senior level positions. Last month the chamber found that 28 percent of posted job openings in the area were tech-related.

Drew Scheberle is with the Austin Chamber of Commerce. He says a full and prospering technology workforce benefits the entire Austin economy.

“It creates a lot more sales tax, it helps improve the value of your home, it helps to create more restaurant sales, more dry cleaning, more grocery store receipts," said Scheberle, Senior Vice President of Talent and Education at the Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce.

Already, more than 2,000 candidates have listed profiles on AustinTechSource.com and there are dozens of job postings.
