Human Chickens Announce Moontower Comedy Fest Lineup
Local comedians dressed as chickens took to the streets of downtown Austin Tuesday afternoon. They reenacted the famous Abbey Road album cover, talked to locals and garnered attention for Austin’s secnd Annual Moontower Comedy and Oddity Fest.
Jim Ritts, Executive Director of the Austin Theatre Alliance, announced the festival lineup at the Paramount Theater. This year’s headlining stand-up comedians are Dana Carvey, Amy Schumer, Bill Burr, Bill Hader & Jim Gaffigan.
The Moontower Festival began in 2012. It's trying to brand itself as one of the country’s top comedy festivals. The comedy extravaganza features stand-up, sketch and improvisation acts from both established and up-and-coming artists.
Last year’s headliners were Park and Recreation star Aziz Ansari, and SNL’s Seth Meyers. The festival estimates 20,000 people attended.
This year, most of the festival venues will be within a five block radius downtown and there's a new badge: the Ace badge.
Other featured performers this year will be Chris Harwich, Greg Fitzsimmons, Marc Maron, Neal Brennan and Maria Bamford.
The Moontower Comedy and Oddity Festival will run April 24 - 27. Badges are on sale now. More information and the full line-up can be found at comedymoontower.com
