Texas House Closes Budget Debate for the Night
The Texas House has ended debate for the night on the state budget. Lawmakers were able to get through the first 3 articles of the $164 billion bill - that includes general government (I), health and human services (II) and education (III).
Instead of picking up where they left off later today - lawmakers will wait until Sunday at 4 p.m. This gives them time to attend the funeral of Rep. Alma Allen's husband on Saturday.
There's still plenty of work to do. The debate could last until early Monday morning.
